Age of Greed

Age of Greed
Jeff Madrick

The present age may not be the greediest on record, but Jeff Madrick makes the case for why the last forty years have been among the most grasping and politically corrupt in American history. During this period greed was unleashed from the shackles of government regulation and allowed to flourish through a series of economic crises, culminating in the epic subprime mortgage catastrophe of 2008. Madrick’s method is biographical, providing a genealogy of the mortgage meltdown by way of a chronological series of sketches of the men who did the most to effect the triumph of finance and in so doing shape the spirit of the age.
