Defenders, Volume 3

I do prefer the morally ambiguous Defenders to their nationalist counterparts the Avengers (Captain America and the agents of SHIELD scare me). Still, I have questions: Why do so many superheroes have fabulously wealthy alter egos? It makes being a superhero seem a bit of a class thing. Seeing the bitter, underemployed Ringer take the piss out of Nighthawk for being a running dog of capital was a high point of this volume. Why doesn’t the Marvel Encyclopedia‘s entry for the Red Guardian provide information on all of this character’s incarnations? Wikipedia does a better job! Why did Valkyrie really go back, if only briefly, to wearing her striking chrome brassiere? I suspect fan outrage. And finally, why was Defenders issue 45 (1976) dedicated to “Neil, Geddy, and Alex of Rush”?
