The most colourful entry in the Best American Series, and usually one of the better reads in that line-up, is a bit of a let-down this year, emphasizing longer, story-based pieces and less unconventional artwork. Nationalists can take pride, however, in the number of Canadians in the mix, including selections from names like Dave Lapp, Bryan Lee O’Malley, and Michael Cho. Canadians are eligible to be included in each of the Best American volumes, but always seem to do best when it comes to comics.
