Jeffrey Toobin

If you’re an American politics junky (you know, the kind of person who can’t miss the Sunday morning talk shows), then you’ll likely love Jeffrey Toobin’s lively and informative account of the U.S. Supreme Court and its relations with the Obama administration. Re-capping important court decisions and reporting on developments in constitutional law shouldn’t be this interesting, but Toobin (whose previous book, The Nine, was a more general behind-the-scenes look at the operations of the Court) has a real gift for bringing this material to life by focusing on the personalities involved. His own left-leaning point of view is hard to miss, but while he’s critical of the right turn the Court has been making in recent years he is still balanced enough to invite readers to come to their own final judgments.
