I like these St. Martin’s Crime Library titles for quick single-sitting reads, and Michele McPhee has written some of the better ones, but I do wish they’d at least wait for the trial before they go to press. That noted, this is a decent rendering of the Amy Bishop files, Bishop being the psychopath who shot up a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama-Huntsville (three dead, three wounded) after being denied tenure. McPhee’s main focus, however, is on Bishop’s earlier killing of her brother, the events immediately following, and the questionable police work that led to her not being charged with anything at the time. A very bad foot to get off on when dealing with these types.
